PVR York Swap Meet, January 2012

York, PA, January 22nd, 2012: Second year in a row that the parking lot was an ice skating rink making unloading bikes very tricky. Inside, however was a warm and friendly environment full of fellow vintage enthusiasts eager to shake the winter blues and do some buying, selling, swapping and all around BSing. The deals, as usual, seemed to happen between 6am and 8 am -before the general public gets to pick things over. I had the opportunity to get there early, but blew it as I was still recovering from Saturdays NYC trip for the International Motorcycle Show. No worries, I was there to sell and I came out ahead on cash which is a very rare thing for me. I won't bore you with a picture of every bike at the meet - you've seen it all before. I picked a couple of highlights and interesting photographs to share. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed this cold, snowy Sunday at the York Fair Grounds. Thanks to the AMCA for putting on another great swap meet (they always do!)

Ohio Valley BSA Owners Club raffles off a restored Beezer every year. This late 60's Lightning looks mighty nice!

HAHAHA, got love the stuff you find at the swap meet.

Author, David Gaylin selling copies of his newly revised Triumph Bonneville and TR6 restoration guide. A must have for any British restorer. Tons of great info you will not find anywhere else.

Barber Motorsports, Vintage Fest 2011: Part 3 WRAP UP!

Three days of cylcle-sensrory overload has taken weeks to process. If I could do it all over again - which I'm planning on doing next year, I would have made an itinerary so I could've seen more as I completely missed the Ace Cafe and the Wall Of Death, the auction results as well as many people who I simply never crossed paths with. Hind sight is 20/20.
George Roulson says hi to Michael lawless in the Paddock area.
A nice Bonneville someone rode to the event.

A quick walk through the park over to the auction house, checking out other spectators rides along the way, snapped some pictures and then headed to the AMCA swap meet.

A well sorted Triton with alternator model pre unit .

An Ariel Square Four in a Norton Featherbed frame. Unusual special dubbed the Esquire.

1959 Norton ES2 in prime condition. 500 single,  street bike.
Over at the swap meet bargains were being had, trades being made and window shoppers like myself being dazzled. I was good, I only bought a license plate bracket for a triumph I'm restoring. NO NEW PROJECTS!

Check out the hole through the center down tube for the air filter. This would make a nice project...

BSA's feeble attempt to bring back the Gold Star. Too little too late. They went under a year later.

Nice patina on this original Ducati Sport

This still has the dealer stickers. A cool look into the history of the bike.

Moto Guzzi V7 Sport

The sport had nice clean Cafe style lines for a 70's production machine.

The handlebars can be low profile for speed, or raised for touring.

Twin Leading Shoes?

No, 4LS! Plenty of stopping power on this drum brake.

A bike I'd love to own someday.

1966 TT Special.

Matchless G80

Triumph Speed Twin 5T display motor.

Lots of billet! Dual carb race manifold, Oil cooler cross section, square pipe clamps, valve caps etc...

1957 DBD34 BSA with RRT gearbox. Needs work but could be  great racer!

Nice late 50's early 60's Jawa twingle (two exhaust one cylinder)

BSA's DKW engineered 2 stroke single.

007?

Remember James' Rocket firing BSA from Thunderball?

This guy made an exact replica complete with missile control box behind the fairing.

It's only original once.

Very nice plunger framed BMW R series.

Cushman Scooter/Soda Vendor!

Moto Guzzi Dondolino

Small displacement Excelsior project for the ambitious type.

Lots of triumph parts available. Side panels and oil tanks.

More Triumph parts!

This guy had the ultimate pre unit selection.

Very cool German NSU 2 stroke.

750 bucks & this claims to bore your cylinders accurately. Calling Mike from American Pickers!

Restored BSA dirt tracker with documented race history.

Look at the placement of the oil tank. I assume it works because it won races.
A well sorted pre unit Bonnie

The blue on blue period.

Another NSU project bike for sale.

Anyone know where I can find these seat clamps for MY Tiger cub?

mini Smiths.

A very well sorted Triumph T20 scrambler. Love it.
It was hard to leave on Sunday, but I had to catch a 4:30 flight back to Philly, so I left early. Sadly, I missed a lot of people and events. Next time I'm going down Thursday night to camp. Out of all the Vintage meets throughout the country, this has got to be the biggest and best. The staff were friendly, the park was beautiful, the attractions were spectacular and the amount of visual information was mind boggling. Thank you to George Barber for sharing his collection with the world and building such a top notch facility. See you next year.
